University of Delhi observed Anti-Terrorism Day on May 21st 2021

 

In pursuance of a communication dated May 20th 2021 received from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the office of the Dean Students’ Welfare, University of Delhi organized Anti-Terrorism Day on Friday, May 21st 2021 at 11:00 A.M. The mainstay of the commemoration of anti-terrorism day is to make citizens particularly young ones, conscious and aware of the menace of terrorism and to solidify the confidence and resolve that we must have to fight it in all its form and content.

Speaking on this occasion the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. PC Joshi at the outset condemned all forms of terrorism and reiterated the need of adopting a zero tolerance approach against it. Prof. Joshi eloquently emphasized on the need of disengaging people from getting sucked into the vortex of terrorism through constructive and innovative ways.

The online event was attended by the officials and academicians from the University. In his remark, Prof. Balaram Pani, Dean of Colleges appealed for remaining committed to the ideals and good practices of national integration, brotherhood and peace. The proctor of the University, Prof. Neeta Sehgal in her remarks condemned all terrorist activities and spoke on the need for everyone to fight it vehemently in unison. In his remarks, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta emphasized on the key linkages between the terrorism and its anti-humanistic orientations by focussing on the outcomes of instability devastation fear and hatred that terrorism thrives on. Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Rajeev Gupta, Dean Students’ Welfare emphasized on the need of spreading democratic values and promoting national integration as the key requirement for tackling the menace of terrorism. He further exhorted the need of placing firm faith in the ideals of humanism in countering terrorism. Towards the end all dignitaries and participants took an anti-terrorism pledge both in Hindi and English languages. The meeting was held via digital platform and ended after Dr. Hena Singh, Deputy Dean Students’ Welfare proposed a vote of thanks to those present.
